We Collect Nothing
TravelRates does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We have no servers, no databases, and no way to access your information. Everything stays on your device.
How the App Works
GPS Location (Optional)
If you enable GPS detection, your device's location is processed locally on your device only to determine your local currency. This data never leaves your phone and is not stored.
IP-Based Location (Optional, Manual Activation)
If you manually enable IP-based detection in settings, a third-party service processes your IP address to determine your approximate country. Your IP is not collected or stored by TravelRates - it is only processed in real-time to identify your currency, then discarded.
Exchange Rates
The app fetches currency exchange rates from an external API. No personal information is sent with these requests.
Local Storage
Your preferences and settings are stored locally on your device. We have no access to this data.
Third-Party Services
The app uses:
- Exchange Rate API: To fetch current currency rates (no personal data sent)
- IP Geolocation Service: Only if manually enabled, to identify your country from IP
- Apple App Store: For app distribution and optional tip purchases
Your Control
- GPS and IP detection are optional - you can disable them anytime
- All app data is deleted when you uninstall the app
- We have no data about you to delete or provide
Children's Privacy
Since we collect no data whatsoever, there are no privacy concerns regarding children.
